Miyawaki Model Urban Afforestation

Intensely promoted to help urban spaces inhale green and restore the fast vanishing biodiversity, in the fast urbanising Kerala scenario, and currently tilted to encourage families to return to the ‘sacred grove’ concept in their own homesteads through family efforts and further extended to institutions as a means of raising levels of water security and aesthetics. This Rapid and Intense Foresting methodology developed by legendary Dr Akira Miyawaki of Japan is yet another game changing project initiative by NGGFn.

Green Auditing
To inculcate eco culture in the working of educational institutions like colleges and Universities, by training of students as Green Guardians and getting the various component audits done with their assistance and raising the level of ‘green’ that these institutions can aim at.

Voice Green

Four-pages supplement in a prominent English Daily (once in a month) - to spread the message far and wide into the fully literate State of Kerala (and even outside the state), with well-illustrated articles explaining the impacts of our day to day activities on the fragile environment.

Prakrithi Pooja (Offerings to Nature)
To make places of worship as eco-models that the worshippers can copy for their home surroundings, and making them believe that cleanliness is godliness. Devotees and employees of the temples join hands in expanding the green cover of the temple premises and in enhancing the neatness of the premises by properly streaming and scientifically processing all types of wastes.

Campus Green

To educate the next generation of professionals on the importance of nature in daily life, a program for professional colleges.

SuRe (Sustainability of Destinations and Responsibility of Travellers)
To ensure sustainability of tourist destinations, which are currently overcrowded and over exploited with high density of floating population, with a project through which the tourists are gently sensitized to maintain the serenity of destination.

NGGFn, chaired by Prof V K Damodaran, a noted environmentalist at national and international level, who is one among the pioneers who campaigned for saving the Silent Valley Ever Green forests from inundation and denudation during the 1970s, with a team of dedicated nature enthusiasts, is networking well with other NGOs and government as well as private organisations and is evolving a new model of green development and green way of life in place of the present fast urbanising, resource depleting and self-defeating development model that our towns and cities as well as our families are perpetuating.
